Are chiropractic treatments covered by my insurance?
Generally, the answer is yes, but there are acceptations.  Medicare, Medicaid, Medical Assistance and Humana will not cover exams or therapies.   Examinations are performed on all new patients, to make sure that your condition will be helped thru chiropractic care.   The cost of the exam will be an out of pocket expense.   Some insurance companies will only cover certain therapies.  For example, they may pay for electric muscles stimulation, but not soft tissue massage.   Acupuncture coverage depends on your particular policy that your employer has bought.
It is a good idea to check with your insurance company to know your specific coverage. (

Is Chiropractic Safe?
Absolutely.  Compared to other medical treatments, which include medication and surgery, chiropractic is the safest.  It is estimated that 140,000 people in the US die each year from drug related reactions while 100,000 people die as a result of medical errors.  While there are thousands of chiropractic adjustments made each year, only a few complaints are registered. Does the adjustment hurt?
Most chiropractic adjustments are not only virtually painless, but they actually feel great and relieving.  In cases of a recent injury, inflamed tissue may react to adjustments and cause some discomfort.  Application of ice after treatment may soothe any irritation. (BACK TO TOP)

Who should see a chiropractor?
Anyone and everyone! Chiropractic care is not limited to anyone. It's important for newborns, infants/toddlers, mom, dad, brothers, sisters, elderly, athletes, pregnant women, injured workers, laborers, professionals, people from any occupation and walk of life. Birth can be traumatic for both the baby and mother. Pregnancy creates physical changes to the body. Slips and falls of a child learning to walk can change their posture for life. Elderly people endure age related postural changes. Athletes experience injury, stress and strain of their activity. People at work do repetitive tasks all day, everyday creating repetitive strain, which alters their body's and posture. These are just some of the many people who need to see a chiropractor. Anyone can be subjected to the dangers of subluxation via their work, their play or their general life. So everyone should be checked. (BACK TO TOP)

What causing the "popping" sound?
Some chiropractic adjusting techniques cause an audible noise that people refer to as the pop or crack. It is not a cracking or popping of bones. Chiropractors do not crack people bones. They adjust vertebra of the spine . This sound is actually created by a vacuum effect within the spinal joint due to the equalization of gases. The equalization of gases and pressure as a result creates this noise. (BACK TO TOP)

How do I know if I have a subluxation?
Like a dental cavity, a subluxation can be silent. A process can take place for a long duration before symptoms are displayed. However, sometimes the signs and symptoms are all to clear that a problem is evident. This is why periodic checkups are so very important. Prevention is the key to avoiding future problems. Getting to a problem before symptoms takes place is a much better alternative. It's a good idea to have a spinal checkup. (BACK TO TOP

Can chiropractors refer patients to other specialists?
Chiropractors are part of a network of health-care professionals.  like other doctors, they will make referrals for patients when necessary.  Chiropractors are trained to recognize risk factors and signs of disease that are outside their scope of treatments and they will not hesitate to make a referral when it's in a patient's best interest. Should chiropractic care continue even after I feel fine? Chiropractors are trained to detect problem areas in your spine before they develop into problem conditions or symptoms.  Just because symptoms disappear, does not mean your subluxations are corrected.  Regular adjustments help to maintain or support a healthy spine and nervous system.  Maintenance or wellness spinal care programs, which may include advice on posture, nutrition and exercise, can effectively prevent pain.  However, how you choose to use chiropractic care is ultimately up to you.  If your spine wears out, there is no solution.  Because your spine directly influences the function of your nervous system, spinal decay permanently damages the nerves and spinal cord.  Nearly everyone flosses and brushes their teeth even though their teeth don't hurt.  Spinal adjustments are like flossing the spine.  lifetime care of the spine should be a priority.
